i’m Anna, a motherhood and newborn photographer in Berlin

Newborn photographer in Berlin - portrait of Anna Rösch

A boy mama, traveler, lover of art, good food, the smell of pine forest, lake swims, and books that transport you to another world. After living in five different countries, I’m now raising my family near Berlin.

In a world that expects you to bounce back as fast as possible, my newborn sessions are an invitation to slow down. To notice the little things. To feel all the feels around becoming a mother — whether it’s your first or fifth time.

We’ll plan everything together so it feels personal and grounded — no pressure, no performance. I work on film, which means photographing slowly and intentionally, taking time for the moments to unfold. After your session, you’ll receive high-resolution scans in a thoughtfully curated online gallery, and beautiful prints that I wrap by hand with care.

This isn’t a photoshoot off the rack — it’s a gentle collaboration, an experience where you can truly feel seen. In the end, you’ll hold something real: intimate, nostalgic images from the first days of your baby’s life.

So you can show your children not only what it looked like when they were tiny, but how it felt.

“Anna is simply a superstar when it comes to analogue photography. We are fascinated by the photos. They reflect the new life with our newborn daughter so honestly and lovingly!”

why film??

There’s something different about an analog photograph.

You can feel it — in the softness, the colours, the grain, the little imperfections, the way it holds emotion without shouting. Somehow, it captures not just how things looked, but how they felt.

Working with film slows everything down. There’s no rapid clicking, no endless images to scroll through. Just a few carefully made frames that preserve something real: the way your newborn curled into your chest, the light in your living room on a quiet morning, the texture of those early days when everything is both tender and overwhelming.

When you choose film, you’re choosing memory over trends. You’re choosing something lasting — photographs that feel like they belong in an old family album. Not perfect, but timeless and full of soul.

I photograph my own family only on film. And I capture your newborn story the same way — with curiosity and care.

All my work is personal work.
Film photography is my love language.

If you're looking for newborn photography in Berlin that feels like memory, not just pictures — you’re in the right place.

your experience

  • Being photographed in this season is personal and tender. That’s why I tailor every session to you and your family. Fill out the contact form, and I’ll send you my session guide with all the details within 72 hours. Then we’ll find a time that feels right and book your date.

If your baby hasn’t arrived yet, we’ll talk about how soon after the birth you’d like me to come  — and I’ll reserve space in my calendar around your due date. That way, you can simply let me know when your baby arrives, and we’ll set the date for your session.

  • Once your newborn photography session in Berlin is booked, I’ll be there to guide you through the process. You’ll receive a thoughtful questionnaire to help you reflect on what really matters — the moments, details, and feelings you want to hold onto from this fleeting season.

From there, we’ll stay in touch via WhatsApp or phone — whatever feels easiest for you. If you’d like help choosing outfits, I’m happy to offer gentle advice — not to “style” you, but to help you feel most like yourself.

This collaborative planning is not about changing anything. It’s about finding the most meaningful way to photograph your life.

  • Meaningful moments need time to unfold. That’s why all of my sessions are slow and unhurried. Think of me like a friend visiting with a camera in hand. Because I shoot on film, I photograph less — which means you won’t hear constant clicking of the shutter.

Your baby can cry. Your house can be a mess. You can take breaks. Nothing has to be perfect. I mostly work in a documentary style, and I’ll only guide you gently when it’s truly helpful. You can just be present with your baby and your family.

  • After our session, I send your film to my partner lab in Berlin — a small team of true analog enthusiasts who develop and scan everything with great care (seriously, these guys are amazing). Once I receive the scans, I make small adjustments to your photos and curate your gallery.

Around four weeks after your session, you’ll get access to a private online gallery where you can view and download your high-resolution images. I also offer beautiful prints and albums — because your memories deserve more than just a place on a hard drive.

Thank you so much, Anna 🧡 It was exactly the kind of session we wanted 🥰 The photos are simply incredible!

 FAQ

Curious about my newborn photography sessions in Berlin? Here are some questions I often get.

  • It’s likely your baby will cry a little (or a lot) — and it’s completely ok. That’s just part of this season. I’ve got kids myself, so nothing that happens during our session will surprise me.

My sessions are slow and flexible, and allow space for all kinds of emotions. Comforting your baby after they cry is a beautiful thing to document. And just in case things get difficult for you and your little one, I always keep extra buffer time for newborn photography, so we can take a break any time.

  • That’s completely normal — especially in this tender, in-between season after birth. Being in front of the camera can feel a little awkward at the beginning. But I find this feeling fades quickly, because caring for your baby is such a natural, absorbing thing.

I shoot on film, which means no constant clicking and no rush. The process is slower, quieter — with plenty of space for breaks. I’ll gently guide you when it helps, but I’m also very tuned in: if you feel like chatting about our motherhood experiences, we’ll do that; if you’d rather have some quiet, I’ll match your pace.

This isn’t about creating a perfect picture. It’s about giving you the space to show up as you are — tired, emotional, joyful, or all of those things.

  • It depends on how you want your story captured.

If want to document that hazy, sleepy newborn feel, the first two weeks are ideal. But I don’t believe there’s a “too late.” Older babies are more alert, and the images reflect the growing connection between you and your child.

We can even capture your very first hours together in a Fresh 48 session — I’ll come to the hospital, birth house, or your home within the first 48 hours after birth. It’s raw, emotional, and beautifully real.

If you’re still pregnant, I’ll reserve time in my calendar around your due date. Once your baby arrives, just send me a message, and we’ll schedule the session for when it feels right.

  • Absolutely. These sessions are for the whole family, and I always make space for older siblings to be part of the story.

I take time to connect with them — to make sure they feel seen, not just as the “big sibling,” but as themselves. I follow their pace, whether they want to stay close to you or go play in the background.

If you have more than one child, the Day Together long-form session can be especially lovely — it gives us time to tune into your family dynamic and include everyone naturally.

  • From the outside, not much changes. You don’t have to do anything differently, and you’ll still receive your images as high-resolution digital files.

But the energy of the session is different. Because I shoot slowly and intentionally, I am able to be more present — and it often helps you feel more grounded too.

One thing that matters more with film is light. Film needs lots of light, so we’ll plan your session for the time of day when the light is best in your home — especially important on grey Berlin days.

You don’t need to worry about the technical side — that’s on me. All you need to do is show up, and I’ll take care of the rest.

my location

I live just outside Berlin and travel across the city — from Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichshain to Charlottenburg and Neukölln — for newborn photography sessions. Most of the time, I’ll come to your home, where your baby is most comfortable and where your everyday life naturally unfolds.

If your baby is a little older and the weather allows, we can also choose a location that’s meaningful to you for part of the session. I also travel to areas around Berlin — just reach out and we’ll make a plan.
